Pinarangalan ng University of the Philippines Los Baños si Sen. Loren Legarda nang isunod sa pangalan niya ang bagong hybrid ng gumamela under the “Women in Public Service” at tawaging Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis Loren Legarda.
Ginawa ito ng UPLB bilang pagkilala sa dedikasyon ng senadora na makapagsilbi sa publiko at sa pagpo-promote ng environmental protection, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
Pinangunahan nina UP Chancellor Luis Rey Velasco at Dean Vicky Espaldon ng UP School of Environmental Science and Management ang parangal kay Sen. Loren “who was humbled by the honor and was inspired to exert more in public service for the interest of the entire Filipino people, and for humanity in the field of disaster risk reduction.”
